Student Ministry Website

One of my many projects this summer was building a new student ministry website for Apostles. The new stsatlanta.org is obviously Wordpress based. Another designer at Apostles developed the graphics set for the new student ministry brochure and gave me a great palette to adapt for the web.

I love the fact that a site like this is so easy to develop and then hand over to our student ministry staff. Now they have the ability to post without a developer’s intervention and have a platform for future expansion!

July Sermon Graphics

During the month of July at Apostles we have a series of guest speakers. This means there is a little extra work each week as we work to create a look for each sermon. Since there is no sermon “series” I get a great chance to create a variety of graphics…

Lake Weekend

This weekend we took the opportunity to visit my grandparents at their lake house in north Georgia. I really loved having a couple of days to sit and talk with two very wise people who have had – and will continue to have – a profound impact on my life.

We talked a lot about family and the past. We also talked about the future, which for my grandparents is a tough subject. Its really encouraging though since we know that at the end of their lives it will be a cause of celebration.

The highlight of the weekend was when my granddad caught a 12lb catfish (see the pictures after the break). My grandmother fed us way too much food and we simply enjoyed the beautiful weather in the mountains and the company of family. At one point we even broke out the old 8mm films from the 50′s and 60′s.

Lemonade Stand // Photo Memories

Early on, I think I wanted to be an entrepreneur. This photo is from 1989 when we lived in Ft. Worth, Texas while my dad was in seminary. Being a Georgia boy I thought that the summers here were HOT. I also knew that HOT meant people would be thirsty, therefore I should capitalize on their thirst.

I’m not really sure how well I did in turning a profit – it looks like my only customers may have been my brothers. I guess I was pretty desperate for customers since I was giving away the drinks two-for-one.

I may not have been the best businessman early in my life, but I think even at an early age I was taking the first tentative steps toward making my own way in the world.

Mark Miller CD Packaging

I was recently asked by Mark Miller to work with him on the CD packaging for his new album entitled “Ain’t it Grand: The Gospel Songs of Blind Willie McTell.” His desire was for a warm and rustic feel to the piece that simply showcased the music. He also had a fair amount of text content that he wanted to include.

In the end, I really love the way this piece turned out!
