Mobile Posting

20110318-110715.jpgI’m giving the wordpress iPhone app another shot.

The last time I tried this app (it’s been a while) I don’t think I could even get a post up from it. I’m not sure if the limitation was my hosting or the app itself, but it was bad.

If you’re seeing this, then it worked much better this time. Maybe mobile posting will motivate me to be a slightly more active blogger.

Using Posterous to Post

Photo

I’m using Posterous to create this post simply by emailing the image and text from my iPhone. I have used Posterous for a long time now to post images and videos to twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and Flicker. I loved that it could send one image or video to each service I used with only one email. What a time saver!

Now I’m trying out it’s ability to post to a wordpress blog via email. Check out Posterous and see if it can help you at www.posterous.com.

You need a gravatar

Do you ever comment on a website? Have you ever seen the little photo next to your comment? Is there a photo of you there? If not there should be.

One of the things that I have noticed about most of the sites that I work with is that people don’t seem to know how to get their photo to show up next to their comments. For a long time this was a mystery to me. I kept looking for a place within the site preferences to upload a picture. Fortunately you don’t have to do this on each site you visit!

The place to upload your photo is gravatar.com. The photo is simply linked to your email address and will show up next to your comments on any site where a gravatar is used (this is almost all WordPress sites). Here is a little more info about gravatars from their site.

Jetpack Rocks!

If you are a self-hosted WordPress user you need to get this new plugin from the creators of WordPress now! I love it.

For too long I have spent time tweaking the settings of my facebook and twitter share buttons on each new site to get them to line up with each other and sit below all of the content. Somehow I always seemed really close but never perfect. Now this plugin make that, among other things, dead simple.

The other big addition that I love is the easy integration of wordpress.com stats into the blog. I’ve never used them until now, but I like the additional info that offers!

JetPack is a free download and is a quick addition to you site!

Burnt Hickory Wild Game Dinner 2011 Promo

This video was one that I created for Burnt Hickory Baptist Church for their 2011 Men’s Dinner.
