My family had a welcome new addition last Friday with the birth of “sunshine” to my brother and sister-in-law. After a couple of false starts and a number of hours of labor for her and waiting for us we had a small healthy baby girl to celebrate.
I guess this makes me an uncle.
I shot the video above and the photos below with my mom’s new D7000. Thanks to Brian and Bethany for including me in their special family day and letting me share a little of it with you!
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a man asking if he could use some footage that I had posted from Christmas 1960. I was extremely impressed that this person even bothered to track me down and send me an email asking for permission. After a couple of conversations by email and phone, and talking with my dad and grandparents, I was happy to give them permission to use the footage.

This video may not be interesting to everyone, but it will be to my family.
This particular video was taken by my grandparents in 1974 at their lake house in north Georgia. At the time they were building an addition onto the cabin, but the film also shows some of the leisure activities that they love there. At any level this is a great slice of life piece of my family in the years before my birth.
If you've been following me on twitter or facebook over the last couple of days then you know that my mom went into the hospital yesterday for a heart valve replacement surgery. She's doing pretty well now and we hope that she's going to be out of ICU soon and in her own room.
