Cat Sitting

This week has brought a new experience into my life — living with cats. We are cat sitting for about a week while Leslie’s parents are in California visiting her sister. Since I grew up in a "dog family," cats are a new experience for me.
Leslie’s cats are funny in different ways. First there’s Wibble — the crippled cat. Wibble was born with problems with the bones in his back legs that leave them basically useless (except for scratching like a dog). The funny thing is he gets around just fine as he flops his back end around the room. He even seems to have an attitude about the whole situation — or maybe just about life in general.
Second we have Bianca. Bianca is like the gray phantom. Basically she spends the entire day hidden under the bed, but once night falls she is very active, and vocal. Two nights ago I woke up suddenly with cat whiskers in my face. I guess Bianca found my face interesting.
Its funny how both cats are really very affectionate in their own way, but they are just a little skittish. If one day (when we have a house) one or both of them come to live with us maybe they will get more comfortable.
>>Update: I am now questioning what I have always heard about cats being so clean. As I walked around the living room earlier I noticed that my black socks were caked with car hair, and I just vaccumed the living room and filled the entire canister of our vaccum cleaner with cat hair! Are they really that clean?
Brian’s Final Day at Camp Winshape
This summer my brother Brian was the Sioux tribe leader at Camp Winshape in Rome, Georgia. His job was to lead juniors and seniors in high school through a two week camp where they left campus and went hiking, climbing, rafting, and I’m sure a bunch of other crazy stuff that I would be terrible at.
Now the summer is over and he’s had his final end of camp ceremony. My family went up to Rome, on the beautiful campus of Berry College, to see Brian ride into his final day at camp…
I’m really proud of you Brian! You have done a great thing this Summer and I’m sure that you have touched a huge number of lives!
