Blogging from Uganda

Picture_3

Several of the bloggers that I read regularly are on a trip together, sponsored by Compassion International, in Uganda. They’re going to be blogging about the trip throughout and some are even making and posting daily videos. If something is especially poignant I may repost it here, but if you’re interested in the work that Compassion is doing in Uganda or just following some really fun people on their trip check out a couple of the blogs below…

Apple Selling Final Cut?

An editor friend of mine sent me this article today. Would apple really sell FCP? Would this push more people to an Avid product or to the new Adobe Premiere (which I have heard good things about)? Will the fact that both Avid and Apple have chosen to skip NAB this year impact their sales?

Final Cut Pro and Avid aren’t going away soon, but Avid’s pricing model
has to change yesterday if it’s going to stem the erosion of its NLE
market, and Final Cut Pro, if it is sold, will have to re-establish its
brand. Without, hip, cool, and very successful Apple behind it, it’s
just another software bundle that feature for feature has stiff
competition from the Adobe’s Production Premium CS 3.

It’s a safe bet that a lot of those NAB visitors who typically spend a
couple of hours in the Apple and Avid booths, will be hanging around
the Adobe booth and watching the presentations a little more closely
this year.
