Here’s a cool site from LifeHacker.com. Check out forecastadvisor.com. This simple site will not only give you the forecast for your area, but will tell you how accurate the various online sources of weather have been for your area. Looks to me like some of them are just guessing!
Why You Should Never Buy a PC!
In the past couple of years I have become a real believer in Macs. Today I saw something that reinforced that view in Best Buy here in Kennesaw. This brand new PC on display — for sale in the store — had a "blue screen of death" on it. This wasn’t just a simple "press ok to continue" kind of error.
As someone who has had the "privilege" of setting up many brand new PCs, I know from experience that as soon as you take one out of the box there can be problems with it. I just can’t believe that in the store they would let a PC sit there with this error message for every customer to see. On the flip side shouldn’t this be a clue to the customer what kind of quality they are buying? After this I went around and found two more machines with some kind of error showing on the screen (I never touched even the mouse).
Buyer beware.
Emailing Big Files
A common quandary that I hear from computer users is that they would like to send someone a file, but that it is too big to attach to an email. Many email services limit users to 2-5 MB for email attachments, but there are ways around this restriction.
I recommend two websites for sending large files to just about anyone. Yousendit.com and sendthisfile.com both allow you to send files up to 1GB to anyone for free. Simply create a free account on either site and the "send your file." In reality you are uploading your file to their website and then they are sending a link to the other person who can then download the file.
Its quick (depending on the size of your file), easy, and best of all its free!
